Sarasota-Manatee Originals Unveils Upgraded “Set the Bar” Cocktail & Bar Bite Competition
Sarasota-Manatee Originals is excited to announce an enhanced edition of Set the Bar, now featuring a brand-new Bar Bite Competition alongside the renowned Cocktail Competition. Taking place on Sunday, April 13, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ed Smith Stadium, this 21+ event showcases the exceptional talent of Sarasota-Manatee Originals’ member restaurants.
With over 25 restaurants competing, Set the Bar offers an interactive and flavorful experience that celebrates both innovative mixology and culinary creativity. Attendees can visit tasting booths to sample expertly crafted cocktails and inventive bar bites, then cast their votes for the People’s Choice Awards in both categories.
In addition to the public vote, a panel of professional judges will evaluate cocktail entries across five spirit categories—Tequila, Rum, Vodka, Gin, and Whiskey—naming a winner in each, as well as an overall
cocktail champion.
Beyond the competition, Set the Bar features live entertainment, a silent auction benefiting Children First Charity, a photo booth, and festival-style face and body art—adding a fun and creative element to the event.
“With the addition of the Bar Bite Competition, we’re giving local restaurants an even bigger stage to showcase their talent,” said Marne Gaston, Director of Operations for Sarasota-Manatee Originals. “Set the Bar continues to celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship of our members while offering guests an exciting, interactive experience. It’s a great way for the community to support local restaurants and experience the incredible talent we have right here in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.”
