Island Gallery and Studio
Island Gallery and Studios proudly presents our Featured Artist for October—
Mixed Media Artist Larry Paul
Title: “Anna Maria Island and Village of Cortez Expressionist Sunsets”
Dates: Tuesday, October 1 — Thursday, October 31, 2024
Larry Paul states “This theme represents how the hand plays with the mind and the spirit to create serendipitous shapes and figures in the artwork. In addition to the miraculous colors of any given sunrise or sunset, fish, fauna, and nautical objects appear from nowhere during the drawing process.”
Larry Paul is an award-winning artist creating unique mixed media drawings using colored pencil and ink, graphite, tape, and eraser shavings embracing abstract expressionism drawing styles. His expressionistic interpretations of sunrises and sunsets derive inspiration from walking the beaches of Florida’s west coast searching for shark teeth. The artist uses a freestyle attack application method with bold and blended color contrasting that “encourages” the media to form unusual texturing and recognizable shapes. Larry Paul is a retired city planner and architectural historian and works out of Creative Arts Studios in Bradenton, FL.
Meet the Artist — Come meet Larry at the Gallery on Thursday, October 31st between 10 am and 5 pm and discuss his work.
