Manatee Chamber Vice President of Operations Carey J. Miller Earns Prestigious IOM Designation from U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The Manatee Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Vice President of Operations Carey J. Miller, IOM, has graduated from the Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, earning the prestigious Institute for Organization Management (IOM) designation.
Awarded to graduates who complete 96 credit hours of graduate-level instruction in nonprofit management, the IOM designation recognizes a commitment to professional excellence and organizational leadership. Miller earned the designation after completing four years of study through the Institute program at the University of Georgia.
The Institute curriculum equips chamber and association professionals with advanced knowledge in leadership, advocacy, finance, marketing, communications, membership, and organizational management. Participants also earn valuable professional connections with peers from across the country while learning strategies to strengthen their organizations and better serve their members.
For the Manatee Chamber, Miller’s achievement represents an investment in the organization’s continued ability to serve the local business community. The practical knowledge and nationally recognized best practices gained through the Institute will help the Chamber continue delivering innovative programs, enhancing member engagement, and advancing its mission of building a positive business environment while enhancing the community’s quality of life.

“One of the most meaningful parts of this experience was the opportunity to build relationships with chamber professionals from across the country,” Miller said. “The classroom learning was exceptional, but the connections we made are just as valuable. Having a network of colleagues who are willing to share ideas, collaborate on solutions, and learn from one another will continue to benefit the Manatee Chamber and the businesses we serve long after graduation.”
“Institute graduates are recognized across the country as leaders in their industries and organizations,” said Karyn MacRae, IOM, CAE, CMP, Senior Director of Institute for Organization Management at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “These individuals have the knowledge, skills, and dedication necessary to achieve professional and organizational success in the dynamic association and chamber industries.”
Since its founding in 1921, the Institute for Organization Management has educated tens of thousands of chamber, association, and nonprofit professionals. Nearly 1,000 individuals participate in the program each year, completing four weeklong sessions that prepare leaders to build stronger organizations, better serve their members, and become effective business advocates.
The Manatee Chamber congratulates Miller on this outstanding accomplishment and her continued commitment to professional excellence and lifelong learning in service to the businesses and organizations that make Manatee County a thriving place to live, work, and do business.
