Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County to Lead Community Ceremony Honoring the 25th Anniversary of September 11
Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County will host a community ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, on September 11, 2026 at the Palmetto Marriott Resort and Spa.
This meaningful program is supported by the New College of Florida, Manatee County Government, and sponsored by the Palmetto Marriott. Community members, families, local leaders, and partners are invited to attend to reflect on the events of September 11, 2001, and honor the enduring spirit of unity, service and community strength.
WHEN: Friday, September 11, 2026 – 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM
WHERE: Palmetto Marriott Resort and Spa, 600 U.S. 41, Palmetto, Florida.
WHO: Attending public officials and guests who will be speaking are:
- Mayor Dan West, City of Palmetto
- Mayor Gene Brown, City of Bradenton
- Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, Mr. Tal Saddique
- Dawn Stanhope, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County
- Commissioner Amanda Ballard
- Senate President-Designate for the State of Florida, Jim Boyd
- Lori Breslin, Superintendent of Schools for Manatee County
- Terry Connors, Superintendent of Schools for Sarasota County
HIGHLIGHTS: The ceremony will feature patriotic and educational moments, including:
- Presentation of the Flags by the Color Guard from Manatee High School
- National Anthem and music performed by St. Stephen’s Episcopal School
- Musical selection performed by Palmetto High School
- Pledge of Allegiance led by Officer Lenard Rivers and Educator Mariah Williams-Adams, former students of Kay Daniels, the teacher who was sitting with President George W. Bush in a Booker Elementary School classroom on Sept. 11, 2001
- Recognition and honoring of Kay Daniels by New College of Florida
