Title: “Sensational Silks”
Dates: Tuesday, April 1 — Wednesday, April 30, 2025 with our First Friday Artist Reception, April 4
We are pleased to present “Sensational Silks”, showcasing Dawn Gerardot’s multiple mediums creations exhibit. Dawn states, “While creating, my mind moves to a most relaxed state, and I find a quietness and peace of heart.”
From an early age, the passion to create has always been present in all that Dawn sees and does. She feels a creative energy that tugs at the artist in her, and this is where “happy accidents” happen: an exciting unpredictable result, an unexpected color mingling or a combination of mediums that causes a turn in direction. Every painting is an experiment and for Dawn, pushing the boundaries is what it is all about. She fell in love with painting on pure silk some twenty years ago and the medium remains her favorite still today. The colors are so bright, warm and welcoming.
Dawn graduated from the University of St. Francis and taught secondary education for 14 years. Her love to teach, and this background provides her with the tools to share her knowledge of multiple mediums. Dawn has taught classes, workshops and seminars in Indiana and Florida for the past 20 years and have won numerous awards in many mediums. Dawn Gerardot’s paintings can be found in many public and private collections throughout the country.
We invite you to our First Friday Artist Reception April 4 from 5-7 pm to meet Dawn and her amazing work. Bring your friends and mingle with our artists while taking in the fine art works and enjoying beverages and small bites. As a special treat, our local celebrity musician, Chip Ragsdale will be there to provide live music.

Island Gallery and Studios is located at 456 Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton. Gallery hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday. Street parking, as well as free parking in the nearby public parking ramp, is available.
We are now a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and our artist owned and operated gallery relies on the generosity of friends in our community to support the mission of providing a more enjoyable and cultural atmosphere for visitors to the downtown area.
