The Good Charcoal Company Launches in Walmart Stores Across Central and Southwest Florida

The charcoal company launches in over 50 Walmart Stores across Florida today – bringing sustainable and chemical free charcoal to BBQ Enthusiasts in the Sunshine state.

Sustainable charcoal brand The Good Charcoal Company is now available in select Walmart locations across Central and Southwest Florida beginning today, bringing cleaner and 100% chemical-free charcoal to sunny cities. BBQ Enthusiasts and loyal customers will be able to purchase The Good Charcoal’s 6lb Super Briquettes for the first time at the select Florida locations, marking the charcoal company’s next phase of its coast-to-coast expansion plan.

In the midst of the brand’s nationwide retail progression, The Good Charcoal saw that 1 in 5 Florida residents grill at least three times a week . Now The Good Charcoal Company is on a mission to offer a healthier choice for families across the sunshine state. The 6lb bags will be available from $6.97, in areas including St. Petersburg, Orlando, Bradenton, Tampa, Sarasota and more.

Ben Jablonski and Rob Silverman founded The Good Charcoal Company with a threefold mission: offer the best-made charcoal that is good for the environment, good for consumers themselves, and good for local communities. The charcoal is derived from the Acacia bushes of Namibia and South Africa, and is made with three all-natural ingredients: acacia hardwood, corn starch (which serves as a natural binder), and water. The use of Acacia means The Good Charcoal briquettes burn hotter, cleaner, and more evenly, resulting in delicious flavors and less charcoal used per cook.

In addition to being more economically efficient for consumers, The Good Charcoal also fuels wildlife and economic prosperity in Namibia and South Africa. In Namibia, the overgrowth of the Acacia through “bush encroachment” threatens open grasslands needed for people and wildlife alike. In fact, bush encroachment is also endangering  cheetahs in Namibia that need these grasslands to hunt.  The Good Charcoal is also invested in the people of South Africa in Namibia. This year alone, the company has created almost 1,000 jobs in South Africa – a nation that is impacted with unemployment rates around 20.69% on average.

Through production in the last year, The Good Charcoal restored over 40,000 acres of grassland, and is additionally on track to restore 300,000 acres of grassland by 2027. For its incredible impact, and efforts in the South Africa and Namibia regions, The Good Charcoal was included in 2024’s TIME 100 Most Influential Companies list.

With the 2025 BBQ season beginning to heat up in Florida, we think it is more important than ever to offer families a healthy and safer charcoal option for their barbecues,” said Ben Jablonski, Chief Executive Officer of The Good Charcoal“We are excited to make a positive impact on Florida families and the BBQ community, with our zero chemical charcoal product.”

The full list of Florida Walmart retails that will carry The Good Charcoal includes: Apopka, Auburndale, Bartow, Brandonten, Casselberry/Winter Springs, Clermont, Englewood, Gibsonton, Kissimmee, Lakeland, Mulberry, New Port Richey, Ocoee, Osprey, Palmetto, Pinellas Park, Plant City, Port Richey, Saint Cloud, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Wesley Chapel, Wimauma, Winter Garden, Winter Haven, Zephyrhills/Unatilla, Orlando, and Tampa.
