BBBS receives National Award

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast Honored with 2024 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Pinnacle Award

The agency is recognized for outstanding team leadership in providing 1-to-1 mentoring programming for local youth

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast (BBBSSC) has been recognized as a Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) Pinnacle Award Winner for program excellence in 2024. Every year, the BBBSA Nationwide Leadership Council, made up of local agency leaders and board members, selects agencies for excellence in the organization’s signature 1-to-1 youth mentoring program.

Out of more than 230 agencies across the country, BBBSSC is one of 4 organizations to receive this top honor. This award recognizes the top agencies that have met the Platinum Award requirements for two or more years – meaning they have shown remarkable achievements in retaining the number of mentors (“Bigs”) and youth (“Littles”) matched through the program and have exhibited exceptional growth in their local programs for multiple, consecutive years.

“This award is a testament to the long-term commitment and collective effort of our entire community,” said Kamala Martinez, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast. “Sustaining excellence in mentorship year after year is no small feat, and it reflects the dedication of our staff, board, and volunteers. Our focus remains on expanding opportunities for young people and ensuring mentorship continues to transform lives. We are honored to be recognized for our impact and remain committed to building a stronger future for the youth we serve.”

For over 100 years, BBBSA has been dedicated to advancing equity, impact, and growth across the organization, making a lasting impact on the lives of young people. Today, the organization creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships, helping build self-confidence and emotional well-being and empowering young people on a path to graduate with a plan for their futures and a mentor whose impact can last a lifetime.

“Sustained excellence in mentorship takes vision, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to young people,” said Artis Stevens, President and CEO of BBBSA. “[Insert agency name] has not only set the standard for impact and growth but has consistently upheld it year after year. Their ongoing success reflects a deep belief in the transformative power of mentorship and a relentless drive to create brighter futures for the young people they serve. We are honored to celebrate their leadership and lasting impact in communities nationwide.”
