Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Helps Family Celebrate a Wedding to Remember
Love filled the halls of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center last Thursday when hospital staff and leadership came together to host a wedding inside the hospital, ensuring a cherished family could celebrate together despite health challenges.
The bride, Melissa, and her fiancé, Joe, had originally planned a surprise beach wedding on Anna Maria Island so that Melissa’s grandparents, Mike and Gloria, could attend. However, due to health issues, Melissa’s grandmother was admitted as a patient at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and was too weak to travel.
Determined not to let this stop the celebration, the hospital’s management team worked quickly with the family to transform a hospital space into a wedding venue. With flowers, music, and loved ones gathered, Melissa and Joe were able to say “I do” with her treasured grandparents by her side.
“This ceremony truly fulfilled my dreams of having my grandparents with me on my wedding day. I couldn’t be more thankful,” said Melissa, the bride.
Rob J. Anderson, CEO of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, shared: “Our mission extends beyond medical care—it’s about supporting families through life’s most important moments. We were honored to help make this wedding possible and to see the joy it brought to this family.”
Lakewood Ranch Medical Center staff were proud to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime memory, showcasing the compassion and dedication that guide the hospital’s care every day.
