Solve Maternity Homes Celebrates 50 Years with Open House at Historic Helen’s House Before Redevelopment

Solve Maternity Homes will host a 50th Anniversary Open House on Wednesday, April 15, from noon to 7 p.m. at Helen’s House, its original maternity home in Bradenton, named after Solve’s founder, Helen Cadoret. The public is invited to celebrate five decades of impact and say goodbye to the historic home before it is replaced.

Guests can tour the home, learn about plans for the future campus, and connect with staff and former residents.

The event also marks the launch of Solve’s most significant project to date: rebuilding Helen’s House and creating a new, unified campus to expand services for women in need. It coincides with the community-wide Giving Challenge, a 24-hour online fundraising event.

Attendees will include Solve staff, led by Executive Director Peggy Kerwin; former Executive Director Donna Vellenga (1999–2013); former residents and their children; volunteers; supporters; and special guest Leah Darrow, a pro-life advocate and speaker.

“This home has transformed the lives of women for generations,” said Executive Director Peggy Kerwin. “As we mark 50 years, we are not only celebrating the past, but also building toward a future where we can serve even more women and babies in our community.”

Solve Maternity Homes has served pregnant women and teens for five decades, providing cost-free housing, case management, counseling, parenting education, and support during and after the birth of their babies.
