Allegiant Celebrates 5 Million Passengers Served at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport

Last week, Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) proudly celebrated 5 million passengers served at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), one of the fastest-growing destinations in its network. On May 22, Allegiant identified their 5 millionth passenger to travel through SRQ. The lucky passenger, on Flight #2982 from McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS), was awarded free Allegiant flights for a year.

While the passenger milestone was marked on Friday, the airport and airline partnered to celebrate throughout the week with gate parties, swag giveaways, an online promotion, and various surprises for both passengers and team members.

“We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with our airport partners at SRQ, as it marks yet another meaningful chapter in our shared growth,” said Kristen Schilling‑Gonzales, Allegiant’s vice president of planning & revenue. “Together, we’ve made travel and tourism to Sarasota more accessible and affordable, having a great impact on the local region and Allegiant’s growing network.”

Over the past 8 years, Allegiant has rapidly grown its operations at SRQ. When the airline first opened at the airport, they offered service to three destinations. Now, Allegiant offers nonstop service to 34 destinations, and occupies one of SRQ’s newest terminals, Concourse A.

“The partnership between SRQ and Allegiant has been instrumental in the airport’s continued growth and success over the past several years. Celebrating 5 million Allegiant passengers since 2018 is an incredible milestone, and we appreciate Allegiant’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible travel options for our community,” said Paul Hoback, President and CEO of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. “Looking ahead, we are excited to build on this momentum as we work toward the next milestone of 10 million passengers.”

As Allegiant marks 5 million passengers served at SRQ, it celebrates a strong partnership that has played a key role in the region’s economic growth. By providing greater access to travel and tourism, Allegiant’s service has added an estimated $1.531 million to local GDP and 32,000 jobs to the area, reflecting SRQ’s role as a major destination along Florida’s Gulf Coast.

SRQ serves as one of Allegiant’s largest bases. As a leisure-focused airline, Allegiant builds their schedule around vacation seasons with the mission of making air travel more convenient and affordable. A hallmark for the airline is that all of their flights are nonstop, so passengers spend less time at the airport and more time enjoying their vacations.
