Town Square University Parkway Launches Support Local Campaign to Bring the Joy of Dining Back to Seniors While Supporting Local Restaurants
Across the country, families are facing a growing reality. Nearly 1 in 6 adults is living with a progressive disease, including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or other cognitive and physical conditions. As these diseases progress, simple joys like going out to eat often become overwhelming, stressful, or no longer possible for seniors and their caregivers. With our growing senior audience, this statistic is negatively impacting local restaurants and entertainment in our area.
At Town Square University Parkway, we see this every day. Caregivers share how public dining can feel unpredictable and exhausting. Seniors who once loved restaurants begin to withdraw, not because they want to, but because the environment no longer feels safe or manageable. In a highly senior-populated area, the local restaurants are also feeling a decline in their monthly revenue year over year. Knowing this, Town Square University Parkway found a solution that not only benefited the seniors in our area, but also the restaurants, too. This new Support Local Campaign is offering a positive boost to the market while bringing key senses back to the dining experience in a safe and secure environment.
Through the Support Local Campaign, Town Square partners with locally loved restaurants and small businesses to bring freshly prepared meals directly into our 1950s-themed diner. This allows our members to enjoy familiar flavors from restaurants they know and love while remaining in a safe, secure, dementia friendly environment.
For many families, this restores something deeply meaningful. It gives seniors back a sense of independence and normalcy. It gives caregivers peace of mind knowing their loved one is supported, understood, and cared for.
Food at Town Square is never just a meal. It is an activity. It is memory, culture, and connection. Familiar tastes and aromas often spark conversation, awaken stories from
decades past, and create moments of joy and belonging. Meals are intentionally integrated into our adult day care programming because engagement does not stop at the table.
At the same time, this campaign supports local mom and pop restaurants that are the heart of our Sarasota and Manatee County community. By sourcing meals locally, we are strengthening community partnerships while ensuring our members receive high-quality, freshly prepared food each day.
The Support Local Campaign reflects who we are at our core. We listen. We respond. We build programs around real needs. We believe adult day care should support both the individual and the caregiver, while remaining deeply connected to the community we serve.
At Town Square University Parkway, our mission is simple but powerful. To create a connection. To restore purpose. To provide compassionate, high-quality care in a place where seniors feel safe, valued, and at home. One meal. One conversation. One moment of connection at a time.
