A new solo exhibition Opening October 13th and running through November 20th, 2026, will be held at the newly opened Herrig Center for the ARTS, formerly known as ArtCenter Manatee, in Bradenton, Florida. The Art of Jake Fernandez.
Jake Fernandez is a Cuban-born local resident artist who has built an international career by rejecting the predictable, resisting direction, and never staying on the conventional path. This contemporary artist will inspire you with his unique translation of pictorial structure and his approach to the depiction of light and space. Extremely accessible yet mysterious, the viewer’s perspective often shifts from distant observer to inhabitant of his constructed worlds.
Fernandez has an extensive resume of solo exhibitions, with 29 shows around the country spanning over the past five decades including in New York City, Miami, Chicago, and multiple locations around the state of Florida. This will be the first exhibition shown in his own backyard, at the Herrig Center for the ARTS. His works can be found in private homes and institutions from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, to New York City and in the Florida State House of Representatives and Senate in Tallahassee. On loan for this exhibition, features pieces from a private collection in Europe.
Visitors are encouraged to plan their visit and experience both the extraordinary artwork and the newly transformed Herrig Center for the ARTS.
November 7th, the Herrig Center will host a fireside chat with Jake to discuss his methods, inspirations and colorful background from 10:00-12:00. Sponsored by the Bradenton Area Arts & Culture as part of The Art Of… series. A Q&A session will follow the talk. Free to the public, registration is requested due to space limitations.
