Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for New Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (LWRMC) is proud to announce the official ribbon cutting of its new, state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab, marking a major milestone in the hospital’s ongoing investment in advanced heart care for the community. The hospital’s second Cath Lab opened for procedures on December 1, significantly expanding capacity for life-saving cardiac diagnostics and interventions.

The new lab features advanced imaging technology and specialized equipment that enhances the hospital’s ability to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, and other cardiovascular conditions. With the expansion, patients in Lakewood Ranch and surrounding areas will experience shorter wait times and improved access to high-quality cardiac care close to home.

“This expansion reflects our continued commitment to meeting the growing cardiovascular needs of our community,” said Rob J. Anderson, CEO of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. “Adding a second Cath Lab allows us to enhance our care capabilities, reduce delays and ensure that patients receive timely, advanced treatment from an exceptional team. We’re proud to invest in services that truly make a difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Dr. Vivek Kumar, Chief of Staff, Interventional Cardiologist, and Medical director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, emphasized the clinical impact of the new lab. “The additional Cath Lab greatly strengthens our ability to manage emergent and elective cardiac cases,” he said. “This expansion means faster access to critical procedures, improved patient outcomes, and the opportunity to serve more patients with the highest level of cardiovascular care. It’s an important step forward for our physicians, our hospital, and our community.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together hospital leadership, physicians, clinical teams, and community partners to celebrate the advancement in cardiac services.

The new Cath Lab is now fully operational and accepting patients. For more information about cardiac services at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, please visit the hospital’s website or contact the Cardiology Department directly.
