Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Voted Nation’s Best Resort Airport for Second Straight Year
RQ tops USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice list again, remaining committed to its welcoming resort feel as the airport grows
Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) has been voted the nation’s No. 1 Best Resort Airport in the 2026 USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards, repeating its 2025 win.
Nominations were carefully curated by a panel of subject matter experts and USA TODAY 10BEST editors before being voted on by the public.
With passenger numbers projected to reach approximately 4.64 million in fiscal year 2026, SRQ remains committed to preserving the relaxed resort feel, convenience and warm hospitality that travelers value, even as the airport grows.
“No. 1 two years in a row! We’re proud of that, and even more proud of the people who make SRQ feel special,” said Paul Hoback, President and CEO of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. “Our team members, volunteers, airlines, tenants and concession partners share in this win. They’re the ones welcoming travelers and taking care of them every day. Thank you to everyone who voted for us. Our goal is to provide unrivaled hospitality, and as we grow, we’re going to protect that relaxed resort feel while giving people even more to enjoy. The best is yet to come.”
Recent passenger experience enhancements include the SRQ Sunshine Squad therapy animal program and more than $16 million in concessionaire-funded new and improved dining and shopping options. The concessions thoughtfully blend nationally recognized brands with local favorites, giving travelers familiar choices alongside the distinctive flair and flavors of the region.
To hear from passengers throughout the year, SRQ launched Airports Council International’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) customer experience surveys in 2026. Passenger feedback will help guide improvements as the airport grows, supporting SRQ’s commitment to listening to its guests and delivering best-in-class customer service.
Beyond the passenger experience, SRQ’s air service connections support tourism and local businesses throughout the Sarasota–Manatee region.
“Our strong, long-standing partnership with SRQ generates tangible value to the Bradenton Area,” said Elliott Falcione, Executive Director, Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Just one year-round, twice-weekly nonstop route delivers an estimated $10-12 million in annual economic impact to our community, reinforcing how vital air service development is to support our local businesses and growth. Together, we’re committed to ensuring this region continues as a vibrant, competitive destination for residents and visitors on Florida’s West Coast.”
SRQ’s resort feel reflects the region it serves, home to Siesta Key and Anna Maria Island, ranked No. 1 and No. 3 on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Beaches in the U.S. for 2026. The airport is intentional about bringing that regional character and hospitality into the terminal.
“The visitor experience in Sarasota County often begins at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, and we are fortunate to have such an outstanding gateway to our destination,” said Erin Duggan, President & CEO of Visit Sarasota County. “At Visit Sarasota County, we see firsthand the dedication and innovation of the SRQ team to continually enhance the passenger experience and expand air service that benefits both residents and visitors. Being named the Best Resort Airport in the country by USA TODAY for the second consecutive year is a well-deserved recognition of their exceptional leadership and hard work. Congratulations to the entire SRQ team on this tremendous achievement!”
