The Shops at Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa Break Ground on New Retail Destination in Palmetto

Today marks a major milestone in the continued evolution of Florida’s Gulf Coast as developers, city officials, and community leaders gather to celebrate the groundbreaking of The Shops at Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa, an exciting new retail destination adjacent to the award-winning resort.

Located at 650 US Highway 41 N in Palmetto, the approximately 8,200-square-foot mixed-use development will introduce a curated collection of five distinct retail and dining concepts designed to serve both resort guests and the broader community. Planned tenants include full-service restaurants, a coffee shop, boutique retail, and lifestyle services such as salons—creating a vibrant, walkable extension of the Palmetto Marriott experience.

“This project represents the next phase in our vision to create a true destination along Florida’s West Coast,” said Anthony DeRusso, Managing Director  “By blending hospitality, dining, and everyday lifestyle conveniences, we are enhancing not only the guest experience at the resort, but also contributing to the growth and energy of Palmetto’s urban core.”

Strategically positioned next to the Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa, the development supports the area’s “hub-and-spoke” model—allowing visitors to enjoy elevated on-site amenities while seamlessly connecting to nearby destinations such as Anna Maria Island, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Tampa.

The Shops are expected to become a lively gathering place for locals and visitors alike, offering indoor and outdoor dining, pedestrian-friendly design, and a curated mix of tenants that complement the resort’s upscale coastal identity.

Construction is being led by FIN Construction, in partnership with IN Development Partners, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and thoughtful integration into the surrounding environment.

City officials praised the development as a meaningful investment in Palmetto’s future.

“This project reflects the continued momentum we are seeing in Palmetto,” said Mayor Dan Wes “It brings new opportunities for small businesses, enhances our local economy, and further establishes our city as a destination along the Gulf Coast.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on April 28th at 10:00 AM, bringing together stakeholders, community members, and partners to celebrate the start of construction.
