City of Bradenton Honors LPGA Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Nelly Korda

The City honored Bradenton native, LPGA Tour star and Olympic gold medalist Nelly Korda during a November 2 ceremony at City Hall, presenting her with a Key to the City and a proclamation declaring the date “Nelly Korda Day.”

Mayor Gene Brown presented the honors in recognition of Korda’s accomplishments in golf and her ties to Bradenton.

“Nelly has represented our country on the world stage, and we’re proud that her story began here in Bradenton,” said Mayor Gene Brown. “Her success shows young people how far their talent and dedication can take them. Having her here to share her experiences with them makes this recognition even more meaningful.”

Korda, the world’s No.1-ranked female golfer, has earned four LPGA Tour victories in 2026, including the Chevron Championship and U.S. Women’s Open. Her career includes 19 LPGA Tour wins, four major championship titles and an Olympic gold medal. She also earned the 2026 Rolex ANNIKA Major Award for her performance across the season’s five major championships.

The ceremony included a conversation moderated by Lisa Krouse, Chief Executive Officer of First Tee – Sarasota/Manatee. Youth participating in the organization’s golf and life skills program had an opportunity to ask Korda questions and hear about her experiences competing at the highest level.

The celebration also included congressional recognition from U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan’s office and a state proclamation presented by Senator Jim Boyd.
