Coastal Orthopedics and Bradenton Runners Club raise more than $17,000 at 28th annual Turkey Trot
Coastal Orthopedics, a full-service provider of comprehensive orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, spine care, diagnostic imaging and physical therapy service, and the Bradenton Runners Club, recently presented $17,125 to be shared between two local nonprofits: Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee and Turning Points Manatee. The funds were raised through donations collected at the club’s 28th annual Turkey Trot.
Held on Thanksgiving morning, the three-mile fun run and walk was open to both adults and children. For the event, the Bradenton Runners Club asked race participants to recognize the efforts of two local charities, Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee and Turning Points Manatee, by making monetary donations when they registered for the race or in-person on race day.
Coastal Orthopedics served as the orthopedic partner for the event. In addition to having a table on-site with handouts, patient education materials and giveaway items, Dr. David Cashen and Dr. Eric Sundberg participated in the run.
Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee was also on-site at the race to collect canned or non-perishable food donations, while Turning Points Manatee collected donations of sneakers, tennis and running shoes on race day.
On Friday, Dec. 19, Coastal Orthopedics joined the Bradenton Runners Club as they presented Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee and Turning Points Manatee with their individual checks.
“We are incredibly grateful to Coastal Orthopedics, the Bradenton Runners Club and every Turkey Trot participant,” said Kathleen Cramer, executive director of Turning Points. “These funds — and the generous sneakers donations collected — will directly support individuals and families in our community who are working to overcome homelessness and housing instability.”
